About

whichforwhat is run by one person.

There is no team, no editorial board, and no expert panel — just someone who wanted a straight answer to "which AI should I use for this?" and could not find one that was not a sales page.

Every verdict comes from a test we ran.

For each task we pick a handful of tools that plausibly do it, put the same input through all of them, record what happened, and write down which one we would use and why. The method and the evidence are on every page, and so is what we did not test.

We do not compute a score and sort by it.

We rate each tool on four things — output quality, effort to get a good result, cost, and whether the free tier is genuinely usable — and those ratings are on the page so you can disagree with us. But the ranking is a judgement, and the reason is always written down.

How we make money

Display ads, and affiliate links on some tools. Affiliate status never touches a ranking; structurally, it cannot. The full explanation is on how we make money.

We have no affiliation with any tool vendor.

Nobody pays to be on a page, nobody pays to be first, and nobody sees a page before it is published.

Tests are run by, or under the direction of, the one person who runs this site, with AI assistance, and every output and fact-check is reviewed by them. Pages are drafted with AI assistance from our own ratings and evidence, then checked and edited by the same person. If something on a page is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say so.
